JIM CORBETT

Jim Corbett National Park is a wildlife sanctuary in Uttarakhand state of India, located 152 km away from Nainital.A beautiful drive through the Shivalik Range of the Himalyas is a treat to eyes.It is located on the foothills of the lower Himalayas of Nainital district.

You can easily book a wildlife resort or a lodge in the area.I had a pleasent stay at a decent hotel, which was not very costly. The view was very nice from the hotel room and we could hear the river flowing at the back and immediately i was curious to go to the river. But the weather was very hot so i post poned it till morning.

I was going to have a brief stay due to a packed schedule so i hurriedly had some snacks from the restaurant of the hotel. Soon my jeep arrived and i was headed to the adventure, towards the jungle. I couldn't contain my excitement to see the great royal bengal tiger.

As soon as i started the journey i saw a really large bee hive on a tree, and a man extracting the honey from that hive.As we entered the forest i saw 2-3 deers looking equally amazed to see us as we were to them.I am still not able to get over their beautiful eyes full of innocence.Further, going into dense forest we crossed a small river and reached the more dense part of the forest but to my bad luck we could not see many animals their so we decided to move back as it was  soon going to grow dark n it would be risk staying in the jungle till dark.

But just when we were about to return we saw an elephant,a large creature which i had only seen in zoo's or in childhood rode the ones which were tamed. It was a sight to behold to see  an animal in its wild state. The driver of jeep told us that elephants in a wild form are more dangerous than tigers or lions.Their were many incidents when the elephant becomes violent and pushes the jeeps and the tourists are being injured. So, he parked the jeep a little aaway fom the elephant. Many jeeps were their which were really close to the elephant, the elephant got irritated and started acting restlessly and chaos was created and everyone just ran the jeep.We also moved our jeep and headed out of the jungle. On our way back i just saw a little glimpse of cheetal,m not sure of it but in my opinion it was a cheetal.Heading back to hotel i was thinking to myself how lucky will be those who saw the tiger on their first visit..,but nevermind their is always a next time.Hope to see that magnificient animal on my next trip here. I was exhausted and full of dirt after coming back from safari.Took a bath n then had light dinner, waiting for the next sunrise.

As planned i got up early in the morning and went to the river. The river had clear water n the feeling of my feet in that water can not be described in words. Their i met a small boy who lived nearby and came to hunt for the fishes. He was accompnied by his sister.Upon asking him i came to know that he daily came here to catch fishes so his family could have it as lunch. On asking about tiger he told me that last night only the tiger was here to drink water(every local person would say the same that they saw the tiger yesterday or in morning drinking water). But we have no choice other than believing them.

And then it was time to leave this place.I left for Delhi hoping to visit this place again and again till i saw THE ROYAL BENGAL TIGER.

Hence, waiting for another journey to begin, another adventure to start.
